Charles Muthui Kang'e
Agriculture, Water and Irrigation

He holds a masters degree in agricultural economics and bachelors degree in agriculture from University of Nairobi. In addition, he also holds several certifications in planning and policy development, commercial representation, leadership and corporate governance.

He has more 30 years' experience working in both the Ministries of Agriculture and Foreign Affairs. While in the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Kang'e held positions of Director of Agriculture for Policy and Agricultural Development Co-ordination, Director of Agricultural Information Resource Centre, Deputy Secretary for Development Co-ordination, Provincial Director of Agriculture, Provincial Extension Co-ordinator, Project Co-ordinator and District Land & Farm Management Officer. He also served on the Board of Directors of Tea Board of Kenya, Coffee Research Foundation, Coast Development Authority and Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis.

As a diplomat in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Kang'e held positions of Acting Ambassador, Embassy of Kenya in Washington DC, Economic Counselor and Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Kenya in Washington DC and Agricultural Attache' at Kenya High Commission in London. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Headquarters in Nairobi, he served as Deputy Secretary and Head of Americas division, under secretary and Head of Economic and Trade Division as well as under-secretary and Head of Middle East Division.

During his diplomatic and civil service career, Mr. Kang'e represented the Kenya Government at various bilateral, regional and international meetings including at the United Nations in New York, Africa Union in Addis Ababa and Food & Agriculture Organization in Rome. 

James Mwinzi Jonah

James Mwinzi Jonah has Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Nagpur University and a Diploma in information technology and currently pursuing Masters in business administration. James Mwinzi Jonah has a variety of practical experience in Trade Development/business development having worked for over 20 years in Ministry of Commerce and Industry (Trade).

He has worked in South Nyanza (currently Homa bay and Migori counties), Nakuru, West Pokot, Kirinyaga and Kitui counties. He has been trained in business development services (BDS) and information, communication and technology (ICT) and has attended several seminars and workshops.

  • He attended a seminar on Quality Management System for implementation of ISO 9001:2008, WTO Regional seminar on Non-Agricultural Market Access Negotiations (NAMA).
  • He Attended a Seminar on WTO Participation Capacity Building for Developing Countries in Fuzhou China, Trade Policy Training at Kenya school of monetary studies.
  • He attended a workshop on Result Oriented Management by Eastern and Southern Africa Management Institute
  • He attended Capacity Building of Service Providers (Saving and Credit) training and a workshop in Community Organization and Leadership Skills, He also attended district focus training course at KIA Nairobi.

He has also worked with Electoral Commission of Kenya District Election Coordinator for Kitui District, and was the overall manager for all electoral matters in the district. He worked in the ministry of trade headquarters in Trade policy and EAC matters Division and was Desk officer in charge of Bomet, Baringo, Koibatek, Kericho District and was overall In-charge of Business producer group’s formation, promotion and facilitation in Kenya as vision 2030 flagship project.

Jonah is currently the Kitui branch Chairman of Kenya Redcross Society and has participated in regional and country trade exhibitions.

He has more than 20 years experience in accounting and finance holding various positions including Finance Manager at Deacons Kenya Ltd, Strategy and Special Projects Manager at Deacons Kenya Ltd, Finance Manager at HACO Industries, Financial Planning and Analysis Manager at GSK.

He is a member with Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).

He has more than 21 years' experience in project management and has served in various posts such as Marketing Advisor at UN-FAO, Programmes Manager at World Vision, Projects Officer at Help Age Kenya and Supervisor at UNISOM (United Nations Operations Somalia).
